A senior Russian official says Ukraine is begging the US and the EU for ‘wonder weapons’ in vain. The official said the weapons have provided Kyiv with no support since Ukraine launched its counter-offensive and that Russian forces have destroyed them.
Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin said on Thursday that Ukraine had described the F-16 fighter jets to the US and EU as “wonder weapons” and was “begging” for the planes.
“The criminal Kyiv regime led by (Ukrainian President Volodymyr) Zelenskyy is begging Washington and Brussels for a ‘wonder weapon’ that will solve all their problems,” Volodin said on his Telegram account.
HE SAID UKRAINE WAS TRYING IN VAIN
These weapons are US-made howitzers, which have become HIMARS multiple rocket launch rocket systems and Leopard and Bradley tanks, the senior official said. Volodin explained that these had provided no support to Kyiv in its counter-offensive launched by Ukraine last month.
“Our soldiers and officers are burning Western equipment one by one. Now … The Kyiv regime hopes for F-16 aircraft. In vain. They will be destroyed by our pilots and air defense,” Volodin further said.
Volodin also added that the weapons of Western countries have no effect.
“The only thing that this will definitely affect is that many countries will refuse to buy advertised American and other Western weapons that have proved ineffective on the battlefield,” he said.
Western countries have continued to help Kyiv since Russia‘s invasion of Ukraine began, both with arms aid and military training. But so far they have refused to send fighter jets to Kyiv despite Zelenskyy’s requests.
Denmark and the Netherlands are leading the way in training Ukrainian pilots in F-16 fighter jets.
